Vairagya —

Detachment from worldly attachment — the spiritual discipline the Bairagi tradition is named after.

Vairagya is not withdrawal from duty but freedom from craving for its fruits. In Vaishnav practice it is cultivated through bhakti: as love for Bhagavan grows, attachment to lesser objects falls away naturally.

The classical pairing is abhyasa (steady practice) and vairagya (detachment). Vaishnav acharyas emphasise yukta-vairagya — using the world in service rather than rejecting it outright.
