Akhada — अखाड़ा

An organised order of sadhus with its own lineage, discipline, property and place in the Kumbh procession.

Vaishnav (Bairagi) akhadas — Digambar, Nirmohi and Nirvani, with their anis and khalsas — organise renunciants for training, seva and the defence of pilgrimage centres.

An akhada is governed by mahants and a council, holds temples and lands, and takes its recognised turn in the shahi snan at Kumbh.

अखाड़ा — अर्थ

साधुओं का संगठित संघ, जिसकी अपनी परम्परा, अनुशासन, संपत्ति और कुम्भ में स्थान होता है।

वैष्णव (बैरागी) अखाड़े — दिगम्बर, निर्मोही और निर्वाणी, उनकी अनी और खालसा — साधुओं को प्रशिक्षण, सेवा और तीर्थ रक्षा के लिए संगठित करते हैं।

अखाड़े का संचालन महंत और परिषद करते हैं; उसके मंदिर व भूमि होती है और कुम्भ के शाही स्नान में निश्चित क्रम होता है।
