Observed with a midnight abhishek, jhanki and kirtan; central for Nimbarka, Vallabh and Gaudiya-influenced families.
The fast is kept through the day and broken after the midnight abhishek of the bal-gopal image with panchamrit. Vallabh sampraday households follow the Shrinathji seva order with chhappan bhog on the following day; Nimbarki families emphasise Radha-Krishna yugal upasana. Community bhawans host dahi handi, jhanki competitions and children's Krishna-leela performances, which in many cities are now the largest samaj gathering of the year.
दिन भर व्रत रहता है और मध्यरात्रि में बाल-गोपाल के पंचामृत अभिषेक के पश्चात् पारण होता है। वल्लभ सम्प्रदाय के परिवार श्रीनाथजी सेवा क्रम का पालन करते हैं और अगले दिन छप्पन भोग अर्पित करते हैं; निम्बार्की परिवार राधा-कृष्ण युगल उपासना पर बल देते हैं। समाज भवनों में दही हाण्डी, झाँकी प्रतियोगिता एवं बाल कृष्ण-लीला होती है, जो अनेक नगरों में वर्ष का सबसे बड़ा समाज आयोजन बन चुका है।
